ACTS

Combinatorial (t-way) test generation tool from NIST

Tool overview

ACTS (Automated Combinatorial Testing for Software, also called Advanced Combinatorial Testing System) is a test generation tool developed by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) with the University of Texas at Arlington.

From a model of input parameters and their values, ACTS generates combinatorial test sets that cover all t-way interactions, from 2-way (pairwise) to 6-way. It supports mixed-strength generation and constraints between parameters. The tool offers a graphical user interface, a command line interface and a Java API.

ACTS is written in Java and runs on any platform with a recent Java runtime. It is free of charge and can be used and redistributed without restriction; the basic version is downloadable from the NIST website and the advanced version is available on request. The first version was released in 2008.
