AdaControl

Rule-based static analysis tool for Ada source code

Tool overview

AdaControl is a static analysis tool for Ada programs developed by Adalog. It checks source code against a configurable set of rules (73 rules and 591 possible checks in version 1.22) covering coding standards, programming style, design patterns and constructs that may cause errors. It can also be used to search for specific constructs in a code base.

AdaControl is a command line tool, integrated into AdaCore’s GNAT Studio (GPS), and can feed GnatHub / SonarQube through plug-ins. Some violations can be fixed automatically. It is an ASIS application, which requires a compatible GNAT/ASIS environment.

AdaControl is free software (GMGPL) with commercial support available from Adalog. Binaries are provided for Windows and Linux, packages exist for Debian and FreeBSD, and a macOS build is maintained by volunteers. The latest official release is 1.22r16c (December 2021); development versions are published on SourceForge and GitHub.
