Python package that generates fake data
Faker is a Python package that generates fake data. It is used to bootstrap databases, create good-looking XML documents, fill a persistence layer to stress test it, or anonymise data taken from a production service.
Data is produced by providers for names, addresses, dates, companies, text and many other types, with localised variants. Faker is inspired by PHP Faker, Perl Faker and Ruby Faker; since version 5.0.0 it supports only Python 3.8 and above.
Faker is distributed under the MIT licence and actively developed on GitHub; version 40.43.0 was released in October 2026.
