RuboCop

RuboCop is a Ruby static code analyser (linter) and code formatter. Out of the box, it enforces many of the guidelines of the community Ruby Style Guide.

RuboCop works with every major Ruby implementation, autocorrects many of the offences it detects and offers robust formatting. It provides several result formatters for interactive use or for other tools, and a very flexible configuration, including different settings for different parts of a codebase and disabling checks (cops) for specific files or lines.

RuboCop is distributed under the MIT licence and actively developed on GitHub; version 1.92.0 was released in October 2026.
