stressapptest

stressapptest (Stressful Application Test) is a memory interface test. It tries to maximise randomised traffic to memory from the processor and I/O, in order to create a realistic high-load situation and test the hardware devices of a computer.

The amount of memory tested, the number of copy threads, the duration and additional disk or network I/O are set from the command line. Data written to memory is verified, so that errors caused by faulty memory, processors, buses or cooling are detected.

The tool was used at Google before being released as open source under the Apache 2.0 licence. Its last release dates from 2023.
