Fake data generator for the JVM
Datafaker is a fake data generator for the JVM (Java, Kotlin and Groovy). It is a modern fork of java-faker with up-to-date libraries and several new fake data generators, similar to Ruby’s faker gem, Perl’s Data::Faker, the Python Faker package, PHP Faker and Faker.js.
It is added to a project as a Maven or Gradle dependency and produces realistic data for tests, demonstrations and showcases. Datafaker 2.x requires Java 17; Datafaker 1.x, built on Java 8, is no longer maintained.
Datafaker is distributed under the Apache License 2.0 and actively developed on GitHub; version 2.7.0 was released in June 2026.
