BenchmarkDotNet

Benchmarking library for .NET

Tool overview

BenchmarkDotNet turns .NET methods into benchmarks, in a way similar to writing unit tests. Methods are marked with attributes, and the library runs them in separate processes with warm-up and enough iterations to produce statistically reliable results.

It can compare several runtimes, frameworks and configurations in one run, and includes diagnosers for memory allocations and hardware counters. It warns about benchmark design mistakes and suspicious measurements. Results are exported as Markdown, HTML, CSV or JSON tables, and as plots.

BenchmarkDotNet is free and open source under the MIT licence. It is a .NET Foundation project used by the .NET runtime and compiler teams.
