Sa11y

Accessibility quality assurance assistant for content authors

Tool overview

Sa11y is an accessibility quality assurance assistant made for content authors. It visually highlights accessibility issues in the content of a page, at the source, with a simple tooltip explaining how to fix each one. It is neither a comprehensive code analysis tool nor an accessibility overlay.

For developers and accessibility experts, Sa11y is a customisable, framework-agnostic JavaScript plugin with more than 80 checks. It runs automatically on page load, irrelevant checks can be turned off and exclusions added, and it can check inside web components with Shadow DOM support. It is often integrated into content management systems so that authors see issues while editing. No personal data is collected.

Sa11y is developed at Toronto Metropolitan University and is free and open source.
