fMBT

fMBT (free Model-Based Testing) is a tool that generates and executes tests from models. Test models are written in AAL, a Python-based language that defines the actions, their guards and their effects, and the test generator chooses the next steps according to configurable heuristics and coverage criteria.

The project also includes Python libraries for GUI test automation on Android, Windows, X11 and other platforms based on screenshots and image recognition, as well as tools to edit models and analyse test logs.

fMBT was developed by Intel and is open source under the LGPL-2.1 licence. Intel archived the repository in January 2026 and no longer maintains it; community forks remain available.
