DiskSpd

DiskSpd is a storage load generator and performance test tool from the Windows, Windows Server and Cloud Server Infrastructure engineering teams at Microsoft.

From the command line, it generates configurable I/O workloads on files, partitions or physical disks: block size, read and write ratio, sequential or random access, number of threads and outstanding I/Os, duration and caching options. It reports throughput, IOPS and latency, which makes it suitable to stress and benchmark storage before putting a system into production. The repository also hosts measurement frameworks built on DiskSpd, such as VM Fleet for hyper-converged environments.

DiskSpd is free and open source under the MIT licence, with pre-compiled binaries on the releases page.
