Command-line benchmarking tool
hyperfine benchmarks shell commands and programs from the command line. It runs each command several times and reports the mean, standard deviation and range of the execution time, with live feedback during the run.
Warm-up runs and cache-clearing commands can be executed before measurements, and parameterised benchmarks vary a value such as the number of threads. Statistical outlier detection reveals interference from other programs or caching effects. Results can be exported as CSV, JSON, Markdown or AsciiDoc, which makes it suitable for comparing two versions of a tool.
hyperfine is written in Rust, runs on Linux, macOS and Windows, and is free and open source under the Apache 2.0 or MIT licence.
