Argo Workflows

Container-native workflow engine for Kubernetes

Tool overview

Argo Workflows is an open source engine that runs parallel jobs on Kubernetes, where each workflow step is executed in its own container. It is implemented as a Kubernetes custom resource definition, so workflows are defined as Kubernetes resources.

Workflows are modelled as a sequence of steps or as a directed acyclic graph of tasks with dependencies, and can pass artefacts and parameters between steps. Typical uses are compute-intensive machine learning and data processing jobs, and CI/CD pipelines run natively on Kubernetes, including test suites. It runs on any Kubernetes cluster and provides a command-line tool and a web interface to submit and follow workflows.

Argo Workflows is part of the Argo project and is free and open source under the Apache 2.0 licence.
