HTTPie

Human-friendly command-line HTTP client for APIs

Tool overview

HTTPie is a command-line HTTP client whose goal is to make interaction with web services as human-friendly as possible. It is designed for testing, debugging and generally interacting with APIs and HTTP servers.

The http and https commands create and send arbitrary HTTP requests with a simple and natural syntax, and display formatted and colourised output. JSON is supported by default, as well as forms and file uploads, authentication, sessions and plugins. HTTPie for Web and Desktop offers the same approach in a graphical interface, in public beta.

HTTPie for Terminal is free and open source under the BSD 3-Clause licence and is written in Python. Its code has not changed since December 2024, and the last Web and Desktop release dates from 2025.
